I've also had good results cleaning the slightly burnt taste you sometimes get from an atty by using either the effervescent denture cleaning tablets, or, believe it or not, the stuff you use to clean an automatic coffee pot (be sure to rinse well afterwards!)

the automatic coffee pot is a good idea. also they say....I don't know if you wanna try this on an atty, but then again people get horrible flavors off an atty so they can still use t. Okay ready. I have a water dispensing system. to clean it the directions say to dilute a tablespoon of vinegar in a a few cups of water and then flush it out. the vinegar breaks down the badd stuff and flushes it out. If done with an atty i suggest you to boil afterwards and RINSE VERY WELL.
this will definitely clean it out.
Good luck to anyone who trys it.

Is there a video on how to do this? I don't follow written instructions very well, I learn better by video instructions.

I just started this thread and it is really great so far (page 3)
How do you know when it is time to clean an atty?

Have you ever felt like life sucks and you're a straw?

Your vapor production will go down. It might be harder to pull on than usual, meaning it is pluged up. Sometimes just a off taste because of the burnt juice leftover on the coil and wick.

Vapor production falls off, it tastes bad/burnt even after refilling, or the draw gets stiff/or noticeably different.
I tend to just clean mine every week, I do my house cleaning on Sundays so I just added that to my list of things I do when cleaning the house.
The more often you clean them the less work it is to clean them. But don't go hog wild and clean them every night there is a thing as over cleaning them. Over cleaning can shorten the life span of them, depending on how you clean them. I just do the hot water bath/dry over night/prime method and mine have lasted me over a year.
