I also find that I am charging my batteries alot more than I thought I would have to - especially my manual one. I thought that because I had bought wraps for them, maybe the wraps were interferring with the charging process. When I thought about it logically, I realized that I am vaping away all the time! My manual dies out quicker because I inhale longer each time with that one because it is much easier to use with my lung disorders. I just ordered the pass through so that my batteries will last longer and I won't have this problem. Have you thought about trying one of them?

I had to recharge 3 of my mega manuals today in less than 3 hrs.
And I wasn't even 'power vapin'!

Well if you vape like me, I take about a 3 second drag, it'll last a while. My older brother is a life long smoker of other substances and hits it like he would a bong, takes about an 8 second drag. All depends on technique.

How to vape?
by bigpete » Fri Aug 06, 2010 3:38 pm
I am just curious and hoping someone can point me in right direction. I have just recieved my V pack and am new to "vaping". I wanted to try it and see if I might not be able to quit the disgusting habit we are all familiar with. I have been reading some of the posts on this forum and see that everyone here is very friendly and very supportive. From what I hear it includes the staff and customer service and not just the ordinary folks such as myself. I'm a beginner and do not drip or dip or mod or DMO (do my own) lol liquids. I really like the volcano and think I would like the magma even more however I can't seem to get this down to a science. I would like to be able to just stick my cart in and smoke. Simple concept. It just doesn't seem to work for me though. I find that I can't get a good TH often enough. Am I vaping wrong? I put a new cart in and first 2 or 3 pulls are good. Afterwards I feel as though I'm trying to suck an ice cube thru a straw trying to bet a good TH. So what I tried is to, for lack of a better phrase "breath thru the Volcano". I seem to be pulling in alot more vapor and thus getting a better delivery of the nicotine vs conventional smoking where I draw it into my mouth and then take it down. Is this the way it's intended to work? I have only had my Vpack for 2 or three days and I have heard there is a "breaking in period". I'm all confused lol. It seems so technical for just wanting to have a few puffs of vapor. I tried the flicking and that did the trick for one maybe 2 more pulls but im thinking that maybe it could be that the stock carts are just so small that they only have a few good THs in them and that if I want a prolonged TH experience I need to go with something that can hold more liquid? I smoke about 1 - 1 1/2 packs a day and an analog cig would usually take me about 6 or 7 min to smoke. With the Ecig I find that I can sit there for about 10 min and only get about 2-4 THs and thus leaving me unsatisfied in the sense that I feel im working too hard to have the "feels like a regualr smoke" experience. I really would like any help as I do not want to give up just yet.

Way to vape?
by bigpete » Fri Aug 06, 2010 3:50 pm
Btw I forgot to mention I smoked Marlboro ultralights, and I am now currently using the patch to try and compensate for both urge to smoke since I don't feel like I'm smoking cuz of lack of TH and also cuz I don't feel my cravings are being met and I'm using Volcano stock carts with 16mg of nic. Thanks guys

Welcome Pete. The first couple of days its hard to get use to vaping. The main thing you have to remember is that you need to take a long slow drag, this improves the Th and vape drasticly. Second the atty does take a couple of days to get a good coat of juice and to remove the shipping oils that are on the bridge of the atty. third as a 1.5 pack a day smoker the volcano helped but when i did get the magma it was a world of difference.
There is a lot of small things that have to be done that as a smoker you never had to do. But that stuff becomes habit and no longer seems like a lot of "work". The flick every few drags helps, Fluffing the filler helps to and modding the carts are a big help. Most people in here didn't switch after the first vape and continued to smoke, and that's what expected. Just done give up right away and give it an honest go.

hello and welcome to the family,
You are on the right track about the pull on the the Volcano, it is all about a slow and low pull. You want to drag on it not like a real cig, but just enough pressure to light up the led on the end and draw as long as you can. Yes the Volcano attys have a break-in period, depending on how often you use it between 4 days to a week, cleaning it will make it a shorter break in time, the Magma atty has one too, but it is like a day or so.
The Volcano is better for the light smoker, someone who smoked a pack or less a day. Sounds like you would be better off with the Magma.
As for the on a couple good hits then nothing. That is really the cart filler to blame there. It just doesn't wick well. so you get a few good hits then either have to wait a while for more juice to slowly wick down to the coil or do the Thermo flick to move it along faster. It has been a pain in all of our behinds since day one. some carts work better than others because each cart doesn't have the exact same amount of filler in them, some are packed much looser than others. I know you said you are not a modder or diy-er, but it is the best way to get around the problem. And the BF mod for the Volcano is really simple. Now the Magma has less wicking issues with the stock filler than the volcano, and you can just vape and go with the stock cart for the Magma with less work, you will still find you will need to do a flick once in a while when the cart gets near empty.
I know Volcano is working on trying to see if they can get the manufacturer to make the stock carts with the Blue foam so they will be better from right out of the gate, but they have been having some issues with getting the point across to them.
Hope this has helped you in some way shape or form. If you have any other questions or need some help let us know and we will do our best to help out.

It will get better as you get the hang of it....as others have said, it's a slightly different technique than smoking. It takes some getting used to. There is some variability in the quality of drags since the juice has to be in the right place in the right quantity for optimal performance. It does improve drastically if you change the filler to bf or a ptb mod. I know it seems complicated but, really, it's not as difficult as it sounds and you'll probably be much happier with the performance. It's also going to get tons better as the atomizer breaks in...
