You can reuse the blue foam a bit, but after awhile it starts to shrink. I cut up a pantload of pieces so when i refill I've got them at the ready. Sounds like you are cutting it right, but I make it so they need to be stuffed in, (not to hard though) to account for the impending shrinkage after that first fill. Once you do it a few times you'll get the hang of it and know what to do.
If your atty is brand spankin new you may need to rev it up a bit. magma attys dont have a very long break in period in my experience. Usually within the first 20 minutes they are firing off some major vapor.

I know EvilErnie was capping his carts with some type of electrical cap. I tried to find some at Lowes this morning with no luck. Anyone have a source for these? (I use the volcanos, not the magma--though t hat might be the hubby's Christmas gift!)

the caps that EE was using I believe he said were something only he can get from his work place. Bt I know a lot of people were using metal shelving caps from Home Depot and Lowes. There is a thread in the Vaping tips section. saying which ones they were using.

You can always order blank cartridges, they come with caps

The caps I used were fiber optical port caps. Not sure what device they came from, but thats what they are.
