I do a lazy man's version of this mod. I just turn the ring upside down so the notches are facing up instead of over the wick. Added benefit of this is that its very easy to pull the ring back out and fill with an eye dropper.

I wouldn't try this with a clearo because I think it needs the ring in place correctly to help support the innards as they are flimsier.

Do they leak on you Chuck?
I use these for when I'm out and about, and am afraid of spillage. I don't mind syringe filling, as long as they vape.

I put mine on right-side-up but I don't push them all the way down, I just let them sort of rest on top of the coil part. Plenty of room still above them to fully insert a drip tip.

I do it with cartos and clearos and have no leakage -- though sometimes if they're resting on their side I get a gurgle-y hit. I also have no issues with stability in the clearos, even mega clearos and especially with the new fat single wick ones.

Another added benefit is that they'll wick better without the wicking being compressed by the coil cap - when wicking can "breathe" properly, a carto always wicks better. A good workaround for this with clearos is to enlarge the notch where the wicking goes into the coil cap.

Another carto mod is the syringe mod. I use a syringe body that does not need the extra metal rings cut. It wicks better than the the standard carto or clearo. It does need a tiny bit of food grade silicone at the base to keep it from leaking with all PG liquids.

Does anyone know if the new pre-filled carto's will work better then these old ones, will we still need to modify them?

They have a filler in them...from what I've experienced, the ones with the filler tend to be a lot less finicky so long as you don't burn them...so, they should work well without any modifications in comparing with the ce2's (which have the juice working against gravity)...

You mean a syringe mod?

No... the enlarging holes mod. I can't even imagine what either mod actually looks like.
