Whenever I end up getting an extra cone, my method of modification would really depend on what I have on hand that may work. I have a fair amount of tools, but no vise or bench or anything sophisticated enough to lend itself towards a practical effort, just a "this had better work" effort. I had to give those work room items up when I moved into this apt.

I really don't want to cut the cone short though; it'd be a last resort. Cutting it short would leave maybe 3/8 in. of the clearo exposed.
