Cleaning Clearo's
by Jagellpuff » Tue Nov 15, 2011 3:45 pm
I have been cleaning my clearos with tap water, noticed a chlorine like taste and was advised to use distilled water. Now I have also heard people use grain liquor like Everclear or Vodka to clean clearos or cartos. So I am asking for some thoughts on this from other vaping experts.

i perfer the distilled water, just make sure you put a plastic utensil in the cup or bowl when heating the water in the microwave to avoid super heating

Yes...standard tap water may have minerals, etc and other things....safe for drinking..but may burn, etch, cling to, etc...onto the coil..soooo----
Distilled water is the preffered liquid for cleaning....IF you clean often enough.
Once things are really baked/encrusted on the coil....then a alcohol based liquid may be used since this will help break down and disolve the goobers.

Thanks everyone for the responses. Well my main issue with it was the expense, sure seems better to drink and enjoy versus down the drain! I plan to use distilled water, but I do loke the idea Shado that if it is really bad use the alcohol to help break it down.

As long as you use an alcohol that suitable for drinking, since you're going to be ingesting it!
Use Everclear, it's the purest, even though I would never drink it (again) it's at least made to be ingested...
Just don't use rubbing alcohol! It can make you sick...

I've been finding that they start leaking after two or three cleanings. I know they're disposable, but it sucks when every clearo you left the house with has leaked. The clear tube loosens up around the the metal part. I've tried to "melt" the plastic around it, but that doesn't help at all.
