5/mint/5
~30mg
10 parts 555 (26mg)
1 part doublemint/spearmint(34mg)

I hadn't really liked the 555 juice since I had gotten it. IMO the flavor was TOO nutty and TOO smooth of a hit for 26mg. The doublemint was also waaaay mint too much for me normally. Once I made this little concoction, the throat hit became perfect and the mint was rounded out to make a perfect balence.

I believe that this flavor is offered at dawn's DIY flavor shack under "555 smooth", although I have not had a chance to try it out yet.

Sucralose or Stevia for sweetening?

Postby Spliner » Mon Apr 26, 2010 9:14 am

Have any of you tried sweetening your recipes using Stevia or Sucralose? If so which? I've been reading the boards looking for an opinion on which is safer to use and what the results were. I spent the weekend playing with many flavors and several of them are pretty worthless because without some sweetness they just are bland or bitter (even at lower percentages). For instance, Cherry Loranns is really really bitter, even if I drop the percentage of flavoring really low. Much of the chocolate flavors are good, but might be much better with a bit of sweetness. I tried adding some Marshmellow, Caramel, and/or some Cotton Candy to the mix to sweeten it, and in some cases it helps but others it does not. I'm sure this would be a re-hash of the same ol' question about what to use for sweetening your mixes but was just curious.

I searched around the web, ordered some free trials of stevia based or sucralose based products but my guess is that they'll contain other unknown chemicals that might not be safe. Pure Stevia seems to be the ticket from what I've read so far.

I don't know how you would mix those or how safe they are to be vaped in their pure form. However, a couple of the DIY supplies do sell sweeteners to add to juice.

Here is one just for reference, their product appears to have sucralose as ingredient.

Perfumer's apprentice:
Sweetener
water-based - PG
Use this one to sweeten other flavors.
Ingredients:Artificial Flavor, Propylene Glycol, Water, Sucralose

Hope it helps. and good luck

Another good product to use for sweeter, smoother DIY blends, also from PA, is Ethyl Maltol crystals. Mix them @ 10% with PGA (preferred) or PG. Use heat to speed up the blending of the crystals into the base fluid.

Excellent addition, especially for fruit flavors which can have a lot of bite.

Here's a quick and easy recipe I use for mixing fruit flavored juices. I mix by drop on small amounts (up to 10ml) and I use 33 drops/ml as a general guideline.

This is a 1ml recipe for 12mg flavored juice, to increase to 3ml, 5ml, or whatever amount, just multiply the number of drops by the number of ml you want to make. If you want a no nic juice, substitute a 50/50 blend of PG/VG for the unflavored nic juice.

8 drops 48mg unflavored nic juice (50%PG/50%VG blend)
16 drops PG
3 drops VG
1 drop PGA or distilled water
1 drop ethyl maltol
4 drops flavoring
Shake and vape!

If you are using 2 flavors use 2 drops of each, unless you know one flavor is much stronger than the other one. 3 and 4 flavor combos will also work with this basic formula, but it is easier to make flavor adjustments in slightly larger batch sizes. 1-2 flavors can be easily mixed in 1-2 ml batches for testing and tweaking. With 3-4 flavors it's better to make 2-3 ml test batches. Once you've tried it out and decide you like it, just up the mls using the same recipe and make as much as you like

On most fruit flavors I have used, this recipe works great. Also good for 'champagne' mixes, use half fruit flavor, half champagne flavor. For a quick cheesecake recipe use 3:1 fruit to cheesecake.
Also this recipe comes out a just slightly above 12mg strength, so adding a drop or two more flavoring should not be a problem, if needed.

BTW, in case anyone is interested Mad Vapes still has their 60ml bottles of 24mg caramel cream on sale for 10.99, which is almost half price.
http://www.madvapes.com/60ml-E-Liquids_c_76.html
I don't vape @24mg, but bought it to cut down and use as a base for other mixing, a cheap source of nic with a smooth base to work with.

So far I have done 3ml samples of:
Almond Caramel Cream
Vanilla Caramel Cream
Coconut Caramel Cream
Chocolate Caramel Cream
Banana Caramel Cream
Hazelnut Caramel Cream
Kona/Rum Caramel Cream
English Toffee Caramel Cream

all of which I am pretty pleased with.

One of the best ones I came up with I named Toffee Caramel Truffle, a rich blend of chocolate, english toffee, caramel, & cream

The one I was most pleased with however, I got totally by accident.

While fooling around with some honey flavoring, which I didn't care for, I decided to try adding some peanut butter to attempt to salvage it, and came up with a juice that tastes pretty close to the Bit-O-Honey candy.

Mad Vapes website shows only 7 of these 60ml bottles left at this price, so if this sounds interesting to you, better hustle on over there and pick up a bottle before they are all gone!

Now all I have to do is figure out what to do with the 50ml of their 24mg menthol I also picked up at the same time! :ugeek:

It look like most of you mix your flavors at 15% - 20%. I mix most of mine at 10% - 12% or I think a lot of the Loranns starts tasting mediciny. Part of the reason I started mixing was to get a little lighter flavor but the sweetener sounds like a good idea if it will mellow out the flavor a little.

In the spirit of this thread I'll include one of my recipes too. I use McCormicks Clear Imitation Vanilla. Don't use most of their other vanillas as they have sugar or corn syrup in them and can clog your atty pretty fast. The amounts are in ml and this makes a 5mg juice. The pg/vg ratio is 70/30.

Vanilla
pg 16.8
vg 7.2
flavor 3 McCormicks Imatation Vanilla Clear
nic 3 50mg/l Xtreme Vapor
TOTAL 30

The flavor is light but definite vanilla. Tastes pretty good mixed about 50/50 with watermelon.
