DIY Websites and notes:

Postby Superfrog » Sat Jul 24, 2010 8:02 am

Ok, since I've seen a couple of questions on the topic, I thought it a good idea to put together a near comprehensive list of recomended sites for DIY Flavors, tools, and Equipment. If anyone else has suggestions to add to the list, let me know, and I'll update. The information that I've compiled is from scattered threads from Volcano and ECF forums.
WARNING! Handling nicotine liquid is potentially deadly, and you want to make sure you completely understand all of the proper safety procedures, especially when dealing with higher concentrations of nicotine. 66mg of nicotine is considered deadly enough to kill the average sized adult, and much smaller concentrations are more than capable of killing a child.

We want everyone to enjoy thier new freedom from analogs, and that includes the opprotunity to make your own flavors. But there are risks involved, and safety precautions that should be heeded. If you are new to DIY, you should also read this entire ECF thread (http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/diy-e-liquid/1783-read-first.html).
Read Here First
Comprehensive listing of DIY Terms and Must Have supplies- This is a post over at the EFC by Scubabatdan, who is also the author of my favorite DIY calculator (which I have included below). This is a MUST READ for anyone even considering starting a DIY 'mad scientist lab'.

DIY Calculators

DIY SUPPLIES
Note: There are virtually limitless number of sites where you can get supplies. These are the ones that members have found to be the cheapest, easiest to work with, or has good shipping prices.
US PLASTICS - Very inexpensive for plastic dropper bottles. Safety supplies and other bottle and container types are available. Dropper bottles come in three colors: White, Blue (Natural), and Black
Specialty Bottles - Here you can get glass mixing and dopper bottles of various styles very cheap. The boston rounds come in three colors: Amber, Clear, and Cobolt Blue. They have a very limited selection of different style plastic bottles also. To note, if ordering glass, because of the weight, shipping tends to be a bit expensive.
DIY Flavor Shack - A bit more expensive, DIY (Dawn) offers convenienc and great CS. DIY is known for one stop shopping, she does stock about everything you will need for your DIY kit including flavors, unflavored bases and nic juice, and hardware. She also offers for the beginners, DIY starter kits with a little of everything in it.

Doctors Foster & Smith -A good place to buy syringes for mixing. Free shipping for all needles (thanks to davej for this find). Will not ship to residents of CT, DE, IL, NJ, or NY without perscription (sorry).
One Stop DIY Shop - A one stop source for everything DIY, at reasonable prices. Has a small selection of flavors, hardware, and base juices. They have a unique pipette pumps (5ml and 2ml) for persision mixing.

Health Cabin - Located in China, Health Cabin has a good range of hardware and flavors. Don't expect quick shipping times, however, prices are very resonable. (I understand some do not like the idea of purchasing things from overseas, however, I am including this as an option for those interested to decide for themselves.)

Clean Safe Smoke - Processing seems a bit slower, but they do have blunt 18ga injectors and sell various sizes of empty bottles with child resistant caps. (Thanks Spliner)

DIY Flavor Bases
Note: The listed sites are BASE flavors used in e-juice creation and is not ready to vape, or offer unflavored NIC juice in large quantities at reasonable prices.
My Freedom Smokes (DIY) - Unflavored nic juice (up to 100mg and 500ml) is offered here. Also have good prices on PG and VG at volume quantities, and they offer some DIY hardware.

Xtreme Vaping - Xtreme Vaping speciallizes in unflavored nic juice at very good prices. Up to 100mg can be purchased. They also have unflavored PG/VG bases.

DIY Flavor Shack - DIY has a very large selection of everything!

Lorann Flavors - Very strong flavors, clamed that a very little goes a long way. Not all flavors are vapable! There are lists on the net and within the ejuice_calculatorV13 that has which ones you can safely use.

Capella Flavors - Large selections of flavors, and offers small quantities of PG and VG liquids. All flavors are reported to be safe.

The Perfumers Apprentice - TPA offers exclusive blends for e-juices, and at very good prices. They also have Molecules used in Tobacco Blends if you want to get that indepth, as well as new production flavor sampling. Good prices on VG/PG liquids.

SeedMan Tobacco - I have not personally used Seedman, but they appear to have a number of flavors all based in PG.

One Stop DIY Shop - Many of the above flavorings can be purchased here. Unflavored nic juice and VG/PG liquids are sold in smaller quantities.

Liberty Flights USA - One of the few places you can get most of the FlavourArt flavors in North America without having to pay European VAT taxes. A bit more expensive than other flavors but some Mixers swear by it.

FreedomSmoke USA - Another place that you can purchase most of the FlavourArt flavorings.

Some helpful spreadsheets and documents that are provided by Tbarey below:
  1. Comprehensive Listing- A listing of many of the E-juice suppliers and what they offer.

One Stop DIY Shop carries Lorann's, TPA and Flavour Art Flavors (which are hard to find here in the US). Flavour Art's Magic Mask and Tobacco Flavorings are highly prized additions to any DIY'ers bag of tricks!

They also carry mixing supplies, bottles, nic liquid, PG & VG

BTW, great job Superfrog!

We need to get the Admin to Sticky this one!

There is also an excellent thread over at ECF on DIY Flavoring including user reviews of different flavors by different suppliers, suggested mixing ratios, ejuice calculator links, and all sorts of other useful info.

http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/diy-e-liquid/74109-guide-diy-flavoring.html

BTW, you can download the introductory info from this thread in a single .pdf file here:

http://stashbox.org/813134/DIY_Flavoring.pdf

There are also some other excellent DIY threads no serious DIY'er should not have bookmarked.

These two at ECF:
http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/e-liquid-recipes/
http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/diy-e-liquid/

This one at Vapersplace:
http://vapersplace.com/groups/diy-e-liquid/

Of course, we can't forget these threads here @ the Volcano forum:
http://www.volcanoecigs.com/forum/diy-recipes-t1259.html
http://www.volcanoecigs.com/forum/diy-video-first-t1821.html
http://www.volcanoecigs.com/forum/diy-the-perfumer-apprentice-t1574.html

And last but not least, an all around excellent resource for almost anything relating to ecigs at the Vaping Buzz http://www.tji-java-ide.com/e-cigarette/
