Draw too tight with your cone on?

Postby monarch79 » Mon Apr 25, 2011 7:05 am

Me too. Just take a pair of needle nose pliers, and put em in the cone hole. That's right, square in the cone hole. Put em in the narrow end and turn with some pressure, back and forth. You'll stretch out that narrow hole, which is so much easier than trying to drill holes in the cone and messing up your sweet paint job. I did this to all my cones, and it didn't mess the paint up at all. Got a nice little gap between my cone and my M-Tankos (clearos, cartos, etc...) and now the draw is nice and loose while preserving the integrity of the Inferno style and maintaining the support that the cone gives to your atty of choice. I think you'll be very pleased with the result!

Hey very nice idea, thanks man! I have drilled holes in all mine... very small hole one only in each cone. The drill bit not sure on size but you know the automatic pencils... the size of those sticks... veeery small. It helped but I also flaked some paint around the holes. Not alot of paint but small amount is bad enough. I noticed though that with my M-tanks now I dont need the extra flow. These things kick out great flow and they are not as big as the I-Tanks making a little bigger gap in the cone.

I don't know, I think my lungs are weak from all that past puffing! The M-Tanks do have a pretty good gap, but now I'm used to clearos with no cone so my lungs want a really loose draw, this trick gave my Inferno back it's sleek lines! I don't know how you got holes in your cones, I broke two drill bits (crappy ass drill) before I thought 'there has to be an easier way!'

I do think the M-Tankos are a step in the right direction, but nothing beats a well adjusted clearo with plenty of airflow! I think you said before you don't care for the clearos, but the flavor and vapor can't be beat!

If only we could combine the ruggedness and hassle free refilling of the tankos, with the pure vapor and the simplicity of care of the clearo... I know you saw my other post in the suggestion box... I've been trying to assemble something with I-Tanks and small clearos, but alas, no dice on the DIY front.

I work in an RV repair center and we have some diamond tipped bits and that is what I used. I actually took two pieces of wood and clamped them down on my cone, hole ends in between the wood. Then I clamped the wood and the cone to the drill press and used a drill press to drill the hole. Worked great! Only thing is that the drill bits I used are about 20.00 a bit but I used the shops bits so I didnt actually have to go out and buy them. Just went real nice and slow with the pressure of the press because like you said on your bits... that small of a bit will break in a blink of an eye... not to mention could go in your eye so use safety people if you do this and get goggles on! :D
