Drip Tip fits really loose

Drip Tip fits really loose

Postby CainDamron » Sat Apr 09, 2011 5:17 am

The drip tip i just ordered fits very loosely onto the atomizer to where if i try to hang it out of my mouth the batt and atty fall out and the DT stays in my mouth It actually broke one of my attys from it falling out of my mouth, and i'm quite pissed about that. Is this normal or should I ask for an exchange???

Hi. There are manufacturing tolerances in attys and DT. It sounds like bad luck that you got such a mismatch. What battery, atty, and DT were you using? What's wrong with the atty? It might be salvageable.

could be a bad o-ring on the drip tip as well. I have had to replace a few o-rings on drip tips because they didn't fit right. I just ran to the local hardware store and bough the smallest o-rings they had and it worked like a charm.

I have the original Volcano the drip tip is one piece I dont see where an o-ring would go. The atty had the entire mesh part break off when it hit the concrete from 6 feet up.

To add...a Drip Tip is just that, a drip tip...it is not and was not designed as a support, hanging, etc...accessory. ;)

Since it's a V-atty you would be using a delrin DT and it would NOT have an O-ring - it fits over the atty rather than inside like the ones for the M-atty which do have an O-ring.

If it is a DT for a V-atty, you could put something inside the DT, like a piece of tape, that would give you a tighter fit. :!: I don't know how safe or effective the preceding advice is. Use at own risk. :!: If the only problem with the atty is the missing bridge, you can still drip with it. You just can't use carts with it. I believe some people have reported that it works better without the bridge.

@shado - I assumed since I can hold the carts in my teeth and have it hang out of my mouth while I do things with my hands (which I do frequently and is a must) that I would be able to do that with the drip tip. making it fit properly doesn't seem like it would be a hard thing to do since the carts aren't hugely different than the drip tip when it comes to attaching it to the atty. Seems kind of ridiculous that I would have to hold the thing together while using it the entire time.

It is continuously getting looser I think the heat from the atomizer is causing it to expand, it is so loose now that my juice just drips around the side of the atomizer and gets wasted rather than storing towards the tip on the bridge. Guess I'm out a drip tip and the several drops of fluid wasted before realizing that was the problem. You would think if designing a product that was going to get hot that a company would use a plastic made for such applications.

ALSO, I would use my damaged atty for dripping if I had a DT that worked properly.

Is it worth trying to get a replacement DT and hoping the one I had before was faulty or should I just move on??

I've had DT's get loose while vaping, due to heat. Things expand at different rates, thats just physics. They all went back to normal for me when cool. The tolerances here a small fraction of a mm. Put a piece of Scotch tape around the atty and put on your DT. It will be much tighter. 2 layers of tape and you probably couldn't get the DT on. I wouldn't recommend vaping with Scotch tape on the atty because I'm not sure if its safe.

You can open up a ticket with CS and see what they say about replacing your DT. If they can't help you, PM ~Mary23 and see if the PIF has one. If you get one from the PIF let me know, so I can send out one of mine to replace it.
