How to clean atomizers effectively!

I wanted to share a few tips on how I cleaned my Magma atomizers. I actually reached out to Shadow Rhelm for advice on this and sorta combined it with what Mary23 posted in another thread, huge thanks to both!!! I had 2 Magma atomizers burn out on me back to back, mine were in such need of being cleaned, shame on me!
The only other 2 I have left weren't producing jack in vapor, this method has both working like brand new!!!
First up is what Shadow Rhelm recommended.
1.) Boil some water in a small pot, once boiling turn the heat off to the pot and move it to a different burner on the stove(to avoid residual heat).
*With the 1st one I just heated water inside the microwave in a coffee cup on the beverage selection, roughly 2-3min, then used a spoon to gently place in the cup and I stirred it around a bit. Not sure if the stirring was necessary but I did none the less
2.) Place the atomizer in the near boiling water, and allow it to soak for 10-15 minutes.
3.) Once it has soaked, carefully remove the atomizer from the water. The water and the atomizer will be quite warm.
4.) Place the threaded end of the atomizer to your lips, and blow through the atomizer itself over a paper towel. This will cause a drop or two of water to fall into the paper towel. This will help it dry faster.
5.) Set the atomizer on the paper towel, threaded side down, and allow it to FULLY dry out. Depending on how cold/humid it is where you are this can take many hours. I usually allow them to sit this way for at least a day, just to make extra certain it is dry.
Now, here is where I changed up step 5 since I had to have one to use, other wise I'd have probably broke down and picked up an analog which would have been tragic! So I looked through threads and found the following tip from Mary23 on flood priming. Here's how to do that:
After cleaning your atty, drop 10-15 drops of no nic PG or 50/50
into the atty on a paper towel, let sit a few minutes, then clean it off on the outside and especially the threads, and vape away.
Now I didn't have either of Mary23's recommendation of no nic PG or 50/50 so again I took another person's tip which was to use PG only based flavored liquid. I'm super happy to be back to vaping with warm billowing clouds again, ahhhh! Both my atomizers are SERIOUSLY like brand new again! Only thing is I am still not sure how often I should be cleaning my atomizers so if anyone has a suggestion on that I'd really appreciate it! Hope this helps out anyone who is looking for really great tips on cleaning their atomizers! And again, a huge thanks to Shadow Rhelm and Mary23 for sharing such awesome tips!

How often you clean depends on how much you vape and what juices you vape. But most people clean once a week, with heavy vapers cleaning twice a week.

cleaning time can also be effected by the type of juice you use. darker color or sweeter juice will then to gunk up and clog atties alot faster. if im using a non sweet clear juice, like just as straight menthol i can sometime push two weeks. if using a darker or sweeter juice like chocolate or cotton cnady maybe a few days max. hope this helps

Thanks! That does help! I vape fairly heavy, basically because I love the flavors I vape most frequent. One is a clear RY4 and the other is Cappuccino and it isnt dark but isn't light or clear either. I am glad to know it's not just me either on the part about different places causing more build up than others, I was ordering from DFWvapor aka allaboutvapor and man my atomizers didn't like that juice, now I have been ordering through Awesome vapor and theirs isn't super thick and I'm finding it's not clogging my atomizers up.

I was buying atty's for my volcano almost weekly it seemed like, so I read about this method online and have tried it and it seems to bew working ok.
When I get a new atty I vape with it until I feel it is time to clean it. I gather all of them together and drop into a cup. I pour about 5 inches of coca cola or dr. pepper on top of them and stir to make it fizz. I let them settle and stir again a couple more times, then I leave it for 15-20 mins (sometimes less if I am in a hurry).
I then empty the soda out of the cup being careful not to drop them down the sink, run some water over them, stir, and pour the water out.
In a small pot I put enough water to boil them for a few mins. I put them into the pot as soon as I add the water and turn on the stove. When it comes to a boil I turn it down so it is not rapidly boiling and leave it for about 5 mins. I pour the water into the sink and then pour them onto a papertowel that I folded a couple times (careful, they will be hot).
I leave them on the paper towel for a few minutes to cool and then get a new papertowel or two and fold it so that I can cup them in my hand and I take the blow dryer to them on a warm setting so they don't get too hot to hold. I blow dry for several minutes flipping them around in my hand while drying so that I make sure they are good and dry.
After drying them they are ready to go, and like new! The whole process takes maybe 30 minutes and works great!! It is really random, but works!
Hope this helps someone else : )
Can anyone tell me if the magma is better as far as maint. on them? Although this method works, it can be frustrating to do twice a week, and I was just wondering if the magma last longer as far as the life of the battery or the atty's?
Thanks!!

Heather__Alysse using your method is not a approved method or even a good way to clean because the sugar from the atty's can make coil build up even worse. i would strongly suggest ditching the soda and using either pga(pure grain alcohol) or CPH (crest pro health) both are approved and clean very effectively when followed with the hot water bath. also dont put the atty's in the pot your boiling while your boiling the water, many have damaged the coil doing that. its better to just use the same cup you used the pga or cph and put the hot water in there. hope this helps extend your atty life. i havent baught a atty since feb, 2 magma and 2 lava lr's still going strong 7 months later(i usually use about 5-7mls aday and clean each atty after about a day and half of use. so once a week takes maybe 20-mins

What is PG or 50/50? The trouble I have with all the forums is that I'm new and I don't understand the lingo or abbreviations!
