mixing confusion!

There is so much information on here it is confusing me! I read in one thread that 'doublers' contain no nicotine and can be used to thin down the level in juices and maintain the flavor ..Yet, at 'Tastyvapor' for instance, the info for doublers mentions 48 mgs...isn't that usually a nicotine reference? What I want to do is to buy stronger juices and then thin them down, to save money and hopefully get the right tastes. Or would it be better to just thin them with VG or PG? Wouldn't that also lessen the taste?
On another note, I smoked 2-3 packs a day for many years. Since starting with ecigs I have noticed more chest congestion...any ideas whether this might be because of PF or VG? ( I vape constantly! haha mostly menthol mixes) So far I've only got 8 bottles of juices...Using the Magma I sometimes get tremendous hits..enough to make me cough, so I know it's too strong! All my juices are medium...so I guess around 16-18 mg nicotine.
any suggestions would be appreciated! thanks,,Bob

Alrighty, lets see if I can help. The referance to 48mg on TV's site just means that if you used it to make a 48mg juice the taste would be diminished. Cause there wouldn't be enough room form the flavor. I know the way it is worded on the site is a little confusing to some. Okay so let just pretend that reference isn't there.
Yes the doublers are 0 nic. You can use just PG or VG to cut your higher nic juices down. But in doing so you also cut the flavor down. That is where the doublers come in. You would use them the same as PG or VG when cutting down your juices, but with the doubler you are not losing the flavor.
So if you had a 48 mg juice and wanted to make 24mg juice you would mix it 50% juice and 50% doubler. and you would have a 24mg juice that taste the same as the 48mg.
As for the chest congestion. You didn't say how long you have been vaping, but I am guessing not to long? It might just be your body working out all the junk in your lungs. Your body is trying to break it up and get it out. This should go away once your body has removed the crud.
Help this helps you out.

Thanks! Yes, it helps explain it a lot better! I'm not afraid to buy doublers now that it will do what I want!
To answer the other question, I've only been vaping for a little over a month...cutting down from 3 packs a day to one and sometimes less! whooohoooo!! not as much coughing.. thanks so much for your response...

I agree with the huge amount of info here. Maybe we need more sub boards for specific topics. Just a thought...

Here's some explanation of the coughing as posted by our resident nurse and vaping guru...

You guys (and gals) are amazing! The info helps a lot. I went to the link from nurse...very informative..made me another possibility. I take Symbicort for emphysema..this also opens up the breathing tubes...maybe the combination of the ecigs and meds are working together after all!
I was a night club singer for over 20 years, and, truthfully, have a powerful set of lungs..LOL
I have seen so much improvement is the short weeks I've been vaping and recommend it to all my friends on music sites. I don't have the lung power I did before I started ecigs but now I know it's just the cleaning out process and nothing harmful. I'm so happy...I'm even gonna try some flavors...like watermelon and cherry!!
I can't be of much help on the forums but if you need someone to sing at your wedding....gimme a call!! haha thanks to all of you...Bob

you can't go wrong with watermelon. I haven't run across one vendor selling watermelon that I didn't like yet.

Albuterol & Advair here...stopped using them after a couple weeks...only when I'm over exerted that I need to use them...I'm serious...the stuff I cough up, it is actually good, clear...not meaning to be gross, but I almost never need an inhaler or my asthma meds anymore after about 4 months...but the stuff is still coming up...
I remember when my Grandma quit smoking, her lungs were clearing for years...that may be my fate, but still feel better because I can climb a flight of stairs without getting winded now..
