I did something very similar a few weeks ago when I ordered clearomizers, but forgot the refill kit. Same thing as you have done, but I used hot glue to hold it on. It still works too.

On the flip side, I usually take the dropper tip off and put the syringe in there with a soft needle tip attached...
Then one time one got stuck and it came off, leaving the soft needle wedged in there.. So I took to filling it that way instead. Stick the syringe in, suck up some liquid, detach and then attach to a different needle tip inserted into a cart, ready to go.
But this is a neat idea also!
