New to Volcano v. Hello and Questions

Postby heinzasmoka » Fri Dec 23, 2011 11:02 pm

I just got my Volcano starter kit.

I have been previously using Disposables from another vendor with a very colorful name.

After getting my volcano I was expecting a greatly improved experience, I can't help but to feel pretty disappointed.

I ordered Full Nicotine Tobacco Flavor, Medium Watermelon and Medium Kona Coffee.

When I first opened up my goodies, I noticed everything was oily, it looks like all the watermelon carto's leaked all over themselves and the other two types causing most of the labels to peal on the cartomizers as well as my watermelons to be no good (only 1 of the 5 had anything in them *sigh*).

I put a Kona on, and tried it, fantastic, tasted awesome had a nice draw, good balance of hit and taste, F'ing love it. (Kona's are the lighter nicotine load).

Next I put on a full strength Tobacco flavored one, I am after all a marl red analog smoker, took a draw and the carto started popping and hissing, it sounded like I saw hitting a hookah... The draw was extremely hard, I felt like I could barely pull any load through the cartomizer. Is this the difference between the lights and full nicotines they are harder to draw or did I get a bad batch?

After about three 'smokes' of a Kona my one auto battery is doing the annoying flash 5 times and stop working issue I have seen others report.

Anyways, hope maybe someone from the forum or volcano would care to address this, I am going on a road trip and really wanted my volcano to be my shotgun companion but it looks like I need to stop at the local drug store and either get more disposable ecigs (read: reliability in question) or analogs :-(

I am assuming that you are talking about the polyfill cartos... if so, it is possible that they were overfilled... but anything that would have leaked out "should" be excess -- the polyfill should just look "damp" -- you really shouldn't see actual liquid and the color of the juice usually doesn't really alter the appearance of the polyfill after its been absorbed... so the other cartos "may not" be empty... did you actually try them?

The snap, crackle, pop that you hear from your one carto is a good sound -- one we like to hear -- it means the carto is working well

Now the five blinks... I haven't used my Volcano batts in a while... but I can tell you... they don't last long...

The V-batts will give you 20-30 minutes of usage - and take about 15 -20 minutes to charge...

You might try "breaking in" your battery...

1. Make sure atomizer or carto is off of the battery
2. Blow pretty hard into both ends of the battery.
3. Wipe off any moisture that may be on the threading side of the battery.
4. Put your battery on a charger to get a full charge if not already.
5. Attach an atomizer or carto and test it out.

Doing this a couple of times can help to loosen up the switch that activates when you inhale. After a bit of use, they become easier to activate.

Good luck... let us know if you still have problems

So has anyone ever gotten an od from getting to much ejuice on them or swallowed? My concerns would be that physical contact with ejuice would be the same as nicotine patches, no? So some of them work, some don't. I am guessing the three that don't work at all actually leaked out. Yes they are the pre-filled Cartomizers. Is there a different set up I should be using?

What about my issues with inconsistant draws? Is the full nicotine cartos supposed to have a much harder draw than the lighter cartos? Is that what makes them stronger they just have a heavier draw thus causing thicker vape and higher dose? It feels like I am trying to suck through a needle's eye on the full strength tobacco ones. Ideas? The half level nicotine Watermellon (singular) and Kona coffees draw nice and smooth.

It just seemed like it died pretty quick, I mean I used it 3 or 4 times, for maybe 6 puffs each? A puff lasting what 10 seconds? 10*6*4 = 4 minutes of actual sucking? Seems pretty short to me.

Thanks so far I have not had an issue with it starting/stopping, so I guess I got lucky there. Thanks for the reply, I appreciate the help of a noob, I have seen a few threads with similar issues here and there. It is nice getting a reply that wasn't tell me to go use the search button (some forums have real pricks occupying them)

Thanks so far I am liking vaping, just hope I can work out all my problems and stay away from analogs by new years.

I find "lighter/thinner" juices definitely pull better (and burn quicker). I have a bottle of the Kona coffee, and it clogs and burns terribly. It's ok dripping, but that's about it.

to the original op.

yes getting nic on you can speed up a nic od. also chain vaping, but you will know when it starts to happen. you will feel light headed, or sick to your stomach or both. at that point you just need to put down the ecig and drink water. also as a new vaper and vaper in general you should increase your water intake anyway as vaping will dehydrate you.

the hard draw has nothing to do with the nicotine level, as all the juices will have the same blend of pg80% to vg 20% which is ideal for cartomizers.
some cartos just pull harder, also at the bottom where the threading for the battery is there should be 2 holes sometimes they can be clogged. you can try gently poking them with a paperclip to see if that helps.

as far as battery life, i too can kill a volcano battery in 20-30 minutes. which for me is a single vape session, but i vape alot like 10mls a day alot. however by any chance are you using a manual battery, the reason i ask is if your accidently hitting the button while its in your pocket it will cut down on your battery life.

hope this all helps
