JoeyTheMadScientist wrote:so, i got curious and decided to shave off the a part of the power cable around the pin. this did no good, so i figured i'd work from the other side. popped the battery cap off and realized the pin connector inside was loose, and dangling, and this was why i was having to hold it tight. i plugged it in and made sure i had a good connection, then electric taped that bad boy into submission. it's ugly but it works like a champ.
i still have the odd "won't work on this USB port" on occasion, but i think that is mostly computer related than anything. if everyone knew how unreliable the usb ports are on your computer for powering things...so i have to find a good usb wall charger. i've got about 6 so i'll begin testing them out. btw, i know the polarity is *-+ but does anyone know the exact power (?v - ?a) this takes?
i think i figured it out. .5v - 1a

Alright, got a new one (I think. At least I couldn't find it in a search.)
Just got my replacement passthrough in the mail today, and it's acting really strangely. I'm getting a delayed reaction when I hit the button some times. I checked, and the button isn't stuck or anything.
This one is having the same issue as the last one, where the bottom pin connector is intermittently hitting. I know this because if I twist it a bit, it starts working again. But sometimes, when I am taking a drag, it's not hitting at all until I release the button. Then it fires off for a while until it either stops on its own or I pull the plug.
I will say it's been an odd experience, and hell yes I took advantage of that vapor that was getting used up. Felt like a damned bong hit. Not that I know anything about that from my youth or anything...
I've got a call in to CS already, just wanted to bring it up here as well.

Bummed...
After one good week we have this. Switch pushed inside of unit. I am thinking this is going to be a problem..
And I was SOOO Happy with it too. Back to crap load of Bats at PC Station.. Boooo
I have Emailed CS in hopes of replacement. I am sure they will make it right though.

Yea that suxors.....I have had that happen to me several times. Luckily though, I have caught it while it is still in sight, and could re-work it back into place.
I have not figured out a good remedy yet that would not entail disassembly of the whole unit. The closest I have come is to simply find something I like and shape it to the button then glue it directly on top of the existing one, therby creating a higher lip of sorts that won't slip under the casing.

you could maybe just use some epoxy to stick on the button. my pt button is doing fine so far, but i am worried about my manual batt. it feels like it slips a little more each time.

I had considered that Joey....was concerned about keeping it right where I wanted it, and not oozing, etc... while moving the button back in place. Would not want that stuff to get somewhere else in there that isn't good.

Nope can not retrieve it.. Down The Chute.. I Tried. I would rather have an external mounted momentary contact micro switch. If I am stuck with this one that is what it will get. 1 week though. Man.. At least it is not just me..

That happened to me with my manual battery. I ended up using the end of a safety pin to skewer the tiny bit of rubber that was still barely visible, then dragging it back up and getting it back into alignment. I have to really watch it though.

I read somewhere that the possible causes of the USB pass through working on some computers, but not others, (other than voltage draw issues) is that the computer gets confused because it is trying to determine what kind of device is being plugged in, which of course the pass thru gives no such indication.
Supposedly if a 200ohm resistor is placed between pins 2 & 3, the computer will not have any problems. I'm going to be doing a PT mod here as soon as I can locate a 200ohm resistor, to see if this is indeed the case.
Maybe Volcano can get their supplier to add one in if this turns out to be true!
