Refund for shipping?

Postby jhazmines_lullaby » Sat Feb 05, 2011 9:54 am

Okay, I have been reading a few of these posts, and apparently USPS has been the main issue. Unfortunately given the fact I am an APO resident, I don't have much choice. So here is the deal. I ordered all my stuff (real close to $200, money we DON'T really have, but figured the long run investment is worth it!) and I went with the USPS express. I HATE ordering things and not getting them right away lol, I feel like if I pay for it, I should have it NOW! Anyhoo, I ordered last Monday, the 31st of Jan. and had a guaranteed delivery date of Feb. 4th. Needless to say my stuff never showed up on the 4th, and on Sat. the building you pick your packages up at is closed. SO, I called USPS, and they told me (basically) not to worry about it, because it was guaranteed by 5:00 (this was at 3:15 pm my time) and I told the lady that our mail was already out, and that means no more packages will be delivered today. (APOs run WAY diff. then I am sure you guys are used to lol) She basically told me that it WOULD be there by 5 because express ships threw diff. carriers. (I called the CMR before this and asked them just that and they said it didn't work that way here) I was adamant with the lady in telling her that she was wrong. Then she told me a few things could have happened. 1.) Package could be lost 2.) Package could have been sent to the wrong box. or 3.) The delivery date was a "typo". so I asked what my options were if it got lost, and she never really gave me an answer. Then she said if the package gets delivered at a later time that I would need to take it up with the company I ordered from (I.E. Volcano) I don't want to cause a problem, and I KNOW USPS is responsible, but I want to know if this is true, and or what steps I need to take to get my money back. (for the shipping that is) provided my package is just late. Secondly, I want to know what will happen if my package has in fact been lost. USPS can't even tell me where it is, and the last update their tracking page has was on the 31st when it was processed. I can't afford to replace my order, not to mention my husband would be extremely upset we (I) waisted $200 for nothing. I can't quit smoking on my own, and I even had to go out and buy more smokes for the weekend, after already having the "buying my last pack ever" celebration. So, if it's lost is there some kind of customer insurance or something? LOL. I'm sorry if this is a dumb question, but I have NEVER had this type of problem before, and I am SOOOOOOO excited to start bettering my heath by joining the vaping train, and I am nervous I waisted my money. Once again I want to say that I KNOW Volcano is not responsible, they did a VERY nice job shipping my order literally an hour after ordering it! I am actually kind of upset that USPS not only scammed (YES! this is how I really feel) me out of my money, but that the companies (in this case Volcano) are the ones who end up looking like the bad guys in these situations.

Hello jhazmines_lullaby,

I am sorry your order is still not there. The best thing you can do is give CS a call. No one is in on the weekends to run the phones, so please leave a message, make sure to leave your name contact number and a short message explaining your issue. We will call you back on Monday. We return calls in the order we received them. Please remember Volcano is in a different time zone so operating hour are different compared to where you are.

The phone CS will be the ones that might be able to help you. As the warranty states: "Items lost in transit: Once an item is shipped and a tracking number is provided, Volcano shall not be responsible for receipt of your package. Please see our shipping page for more information." But we will help you try to settle any disputes with USPS.

Once again I am sorry that USPS has not fulfilled there end of the deal, and I hope they are just being slow and it shows up soon.

I will deff. do that AB, Thank You! I am in Germany so I am pretty good at having to remember stateside times (Hawaii -11 hrs. LOL)

I can't leave my phone number though, I have NO CLUE how to dial my number from the states  lol, But I will call on Monday. $18 isn't really THAT big of a deal, its more the principal that gets me. It shouldn't be GUARANTEED if it's not going to be there.

I missed that part in the warranty, but thats what I figured. It's alright though, I am praying like no ones business that it is just in fact late, and that I REALLY HAVE bought my last pack of smokes. If it's not here by Monday, someone at USPS is surely going to be hating me.

Is there a way to add the option to get insurance on a package when you chose your shipping option? That way if USPS gets stupid and actually does lose the package, or your items are broken, THEY will be the ones responsible for refunding to the customer? I don't know how all of that stuff works, but its just a thought.

Right now ther eis no option to add insurance to your package. I have talked to Mike and Joe about it and they have said they are looking into it, but we all know how long it takes USPS to get back to you and do anything. But I will see if I can find out if we found anything else about it.

Has the USPS Express Shipping ever worked for anybody???

I would never trust it. I don't trust insurance from USPS, either. They lost a digital camera I mailed to hubby once and told me (when I went to file insurance claim b/c I did buy it) that I could not prove he did not get it. WTF?! Since then I don't buy their insurance - I think it is a rip-off.

However much I don't love USPS I have to give them credit this week. They delivered every day during our few days of winter weather. UPS had my TPA order on the truck for delivery yesterday and it never arrived. Today it says delayed for inclement weather. Our inclement weather melted on Wednesday - they are so full of doody.

I ♥ FedEX.

I would much rather go with Fed Ex myself. I can't wait till we get out of here and back to the states so I can use it again!

I can Trust insurance with USPS, when sending packages to the Hubby, I always use it, and have never had a problem. I send him stuff all the time, and it usually take 2-3 weeks for him to get them, but when I use insurance (and NOT express) he gets them in a week, and the boxes look the way they went.

I don't know when you last got insurance, but now they give you a ticket/receipt, and number to give to the person it's going to. They told me if it was lost or damaged that HE would be the one who would have to make a claim with the number he was given.

I think the option for insurance would be a good thing. I know that USPS is pretty unreliable, but it would keep them accountable, and I think they would be more eager to ship it properly, because they don't want to look bad, OR lose money. This has just been my experience though, I know its diff. for everyone. It would still be nice to have the option.

I've had a few successful USPS shipments, but when my order is close enough, I usually get the FedEx. I found out the other day my RMA shipment was damaged on the way back...who knows whats wrong with USPS.

The thing with APO/FPO is that it is actually an international shipment. Since the personell are working for the government, USPS allows them to receive mail at the "local" rate rather than the international rate (sometimes, the gubment does good things). The folks with APO/FPO could use, FedEx or UPS, but it would have to go to their local physical address (remember, mailboxes are federal (USPS) owned), and thereby incurring outrageous international shipping charges.

(I can't believe I'm sticking up for USPS :eh: )

USPS really isn't all that bad, it all depends one what company you are ordering from... Some places you order from, USPS can have here over seas in a matter of days, others could take weeks, even up to a month or two. (YES, ordering from big chain bookstores takes FOREVER!) I don't really know exactly why this is, but its just the way it goes I guess, but when I order express and pay extra, I expect certain things!

However, we COULD in fact order from Fed Ex and UPS, but it would take a lot longer for that item to get here, because they would have to trade off our packages to USPS, and they in turn would have to trade it off to the Military USPS, its confusing but thats how it works. I don't completely understand it though, UPS I know for a fact DOES do business here, and I DO have a physical address, but for whatever reason we can't use it. Its stupid, but then again, military is government, and the government likes to keep things within its 'lil circle. The main problem is that it is SOOOOO hard to get certain information about your packages, and TONS of paper work/hoops you have to go through if something goes wrong. They kind of take advantage of the fact that people much rather would NOT deal with all of it.

Moving on though... I DID receive my Volcano last night! (6 days late!) and I am loving it!
