Great idea! Use modern window screen, its food safe and won't rust. It's also cheap and you get alot on a roll. You could just cut or punch a hole in it to hold either tanko by the threads! I'm gonna leave that last sentence as proof of my frequent brain farts. Shows how long it's been since I've even LOOKED at an I-tanko!

So I went to put a tank in, and I noticed that there are little black specks inside the tanko...looks like coffee grounds. On top of that, it's like trying to suck up a big chunk of Oreo in a milkshake through a straw! Guess it's time to clean it!!! Man, and it was working so well a few hours ago! :(

someone told me once what those black specks are from... but I can't remember
oxidation of liquid hitting the coil maybe? good thing you caught it early though because whatever that stuff is can end up getting burned to your wick and then you'll have a FANTASTIC tasting tanko :lolno:

luckily though, it doesn't take me that long to clean them anymore. so all is well ;)

Cleaned tank last night using Keuring...two washes, dry burn, wash again, dry burn, flood. Lots of crap and black soot (the coffee ground looking stuff) Good as new. Actually, it seems to be working better than when I first got it! :D
