Volcano is based out of Hawaii, I live in Oregon. So someone explain to me why FedEx is telling me my package is in Tennessee, that is nowhere near in between its starting and ending destination?!?!?!

All FedEx packages route through Memphis (spoke and hub system).

It actually works out faster that way but is very expensive. Rather than going from hub to hub like UPS or USPS and spending a day processing at each hub, everything goes to Memphis and everything leaves from Memphis, even if it's just going down the street.
Of course, it sucks when your Volcano package shipped via 2-day has arrived in your city the day after you ordered and the tracking shows that it's still in the local facility because it's not the scheduled delivery day yet.

Speaking as a Memphis (suburb in MS) resident..
Yup, everything comes through here. FedEx is BIG business around these parts (Did you know that the FedEx hub is so large, it has its own zip code? Now ya do)
We could totally do with less Elvis around here though. For serious.

That may be a region specific gripe...you know, in Memphis at least.
