Make your first order a big one. Or at least your second, if you are trying this for the first time and just want to get a starter kit to try first. Backups, backups, and more backups. At least 2 batteries, a charging device for each battery type, and multiple attys.
Don't give up just because you don't like your first 'delivery device'. You get tankos but don't care for em... well, try dripping, or try cartos, etc. I started on the Volcano and cartridges and ended up going to inferno with i-tank, and am now on cartos. If you feel like you are spending a lot of money, just think of how much you would be paying for a pack of cigs... and then remember you are probably paying at least that price every day, 7 days a week.
Get rid of all the tobacco around your house. Or at least hide it where it is out of sight, out of mind. Empty the ashtrays... times will come when you are looking at those butts and go "man, if only..." Sure, most people don't really like the taste of cigs, but for people like me who DO enjoy the flavor of that smoke, it makes it hard.
Try to avoid being around smokers as much as you can for the first week. Again, if you find the taste and smell of burning tobacco appealing like I do, it makes it very hard.
Be PROUD of yourself for making the switch. Even allow yourself a bit of ego. Go around and look at smokers and go "Haha, you're polluting yourself to get your nic, and I am cleaning my body up, and STILL getting my nic!"
All that I can think of that I learned, for now...

I am pretty new at this (a little over a month) but so far I have converted my husband and my mother in law. My biggest tip to them was to separate the two completely in your head. Vaping will never be just like smoking. It won't taste like it (which you will be thankful for once you can taste again) and it won't feel like it. You have to be mentally ready to make the switch.
I quit smoking the moment I got my first e cig. Unfortunately it was a blu so that was a bummer. My MIL is quitting slowly. She has cut out the majority of the real cigs, but still has her morning one and one after dinner.
Another thing that has gotten me through is making it fun. I am still trying out different flavors (some terrible, some good) and getting new "toys". I found that now that I have spent the money I almost feel obligated to not fail!
ENJOY! and be proud of yourself!

I'm also pretty new, so these are things that are helping me right now...
First I'd like to say that I agree with pretty much everything said above: Try different methods of delivery, keep backups of equipment on hand, avoid smokers for a bit if possible, keep a higher level nic on hand for those craving times, etc. That was all great advice!
My only addition is that I like to keep a couple "heavier" flavors on hand too. I love the fruity and sweet flavors for my all day vapes, but for those times that you've particularly enjoyed your smokes (after dinner, with your morning coffee, while drinking, etc), I need to have a flavor like coffee or tobacco or generally something heavier than the light and fruity fun flavors. It really helps to trick the mind that you're having that all important traditional cigarette. For me, this is most important after dinner. They may not taste or completely feel like a cigarette, but they're a lot closer to me.
Have fun with it. Make it a hobby. Enjoy showing it off. It's a pretty neat little gadget and the ability to customize your experience makes it all the more appealing.

I the beginning I vaped all the time, constantly vaping, not just waiting for the urge to smoke. After a few days I realized that I never had that urge to have a cig. After a while I unconsciously cut back on the vaping. I use to smoke a pack a day. Now I noticed I can go a lot longer in between vapes then I ever could go with cigs.

I'm chain vaping during the day because I work from home and I'm at my pc all day. I do find that once the work day is over and I get up, I don't vape as much as I used to smoke.
It's good, I would chain smoke during my work day before and then just smoke about every half hour after that, so it's all steps in the right direction.

Get lots of "backups." I've been vaping for 61 days now, and have tons of eJuice, 6 batteries, a pack of clearos, a pack of mega-clearos, 2USB chargers, 3 atty's, 2 tankos, 10 blank tanks, 2 syringes, a regular case (holds two clearos/tankos and two batteries, perfect for short trips out of the house)...
The more you have on hand, the less chance you have or running out of something, or something breaking (it happens).
DRINK LOTS OF WATER. Can't stress that enough. Vaping will dehydrate you. If you vape heavily right before bedtime, drink a glass of water or your throat will be sore in the morning.
Have fun with your new "toy" and develop this habit. Show it off, and get into the "I VAPE when I'm on lunch/break, at my computer, walking, car, etc."
It's a good chunk of money to get started, but once you have everything you need. I've spend about $400 in the past two months, but that's still only $50 a week. I spend about $36-$48 dollars a week on cigarettes, so it has basically evened out.
Good luck!

Since this is my second go at this, and the main reason I stopped vaping was because I ran out of attys, I'll agree with having lots of backups. Also, for me it is chain vaping and also not going where I used to smoke. I never smoked in the house, so now Ivape in the house because going outside made me want a real. It drives my husband nuts.

i was the opposite when i started i tried to treat it just like i did normally, so i would still go on smoke breaks at work. just gotta be patient with it and it will all pay off in the end. as far as your husband being annoyed, about using it in the house. just ask him if you stink of cigarettes. when he says no say so whats the problem(worked for me).
