Tube Tank not wicking
by keoni4u » Sat Nov 19, 2011 10:48 pm
Just bought the Tube Tank, but I do not know if I'm doing it right. I followed the instructions from the personnel selling it at booth and then got home and tried it. But it seems like very little ejuice is going into the atomizer since all i taste when I take a drag is the burnt taste of the ejuice. I may have gotten a defective one or I'm just not doing it right.

Can you see the punched hole in the cartomizer?
After filling the tube and pushing the carto back in, did you fill the carto with juice?
This is a new product so make sure to contact CS about it so they can offer suggestions but also to track issues so if there is a mfg issue it can be addressed.

Jeff,
Thanks for the quick replay, found a youtube instruction video, and the instructions at the official Volcano site and so I first added 3 drops on the poly material but that didn't seem to work so then I soaked it just like they instructions on the Volcano site, but I cant seem to take a deep drag, like no resistance, and yes I see the small hole in the cartomizer. I'm thinking of sticking a needle or something through it to see if it might be clogged or something.

Try poking thru it to see if that helps. Make sure not to get juice down the tube as that will restrict air and cause gurgling. I don't have mine yet, but my concern is the punched hole, is it big enough? And I know many will punch two holes. Make sure the hole is not blocked when it is assembled and filled up, meaning it was punched too low and the tube end cap is blocking it. Make sure to contact CS.

Im still waiting on mine, but with my experience with cartos/clearos I will ad a tidbit.
Try giving it a thermo flick.
Sometimes an air bubble can get caught just under the coil and prevent that juice from wicking up...seen it happen on a few clearos...just a thought.
Report back and let us know what your issue was!!!

once you have filled the tube with juice and pushed the carto back up into the top cap, you want to saturate the poly fill in the carto with juice as well, close to 15 drops or so, till the poly fill stops absorbing the juice.
Then place the DT on the carto and take a couple dry pull on the unit before placing on the battery. this will get the wicking going better and help remove any air bubbles in the carto's filler.
If you tried using it with the filler dry then you may have burnt the filler inside the carto. That burnt taste is gonna take some time to work out of the carto now. And since you can not safely clean the cartos the only way to get the burnt taste out is to make sure you have it filed right, and vape through the taste, the more you vape it the weaker the burnt taste will be.

I have cleaned poly filled cartos, with water, but it is very imposrtant to get them dry quickly! It is a great breading ground for bacteria and the like to grow if you don't. I personally will continue to try this, but am considering using grain alcohol such as Everclear to help clean, but then with the high alcohol hoping it evaporates quickly, and will clean it better than with water (distilled). Even when I have cleaned them, it prolongs the life only temporary as it is difficult to get the poly fill really clean unless you disassemble it to which I have not done as I doubt it will be a success to get it back together working properly.
To assist with drying it out, I employ a hair dryer on a low setting and set the cartos and my clearos about 12 inches away and let it run for a good 15min or longer. Not energy efficient, and you cant walk away. I am keeping my eyes open for something that will work better.
My hope is that replacement spares will be sold in the near future, and that too will be an item I stock up on so as to not be caught empty handed!

What about trying those little hot plates they sell to put coffee mugs on to keep your coffee warm. They don't get hot enough to burn your house down, but maintain a certain level of heat. . . like this
