I live on the Eastern Seaboard and order from Volcano all the time.
Ive smartened up.
I used to always order Fed Ex (and FedEx always arrived as advertised), but I did a test and now save myself 6 dollars all the time.
I usually order on Wednesday nights (Im sure the regulars know why!) Well if you order Wednesday night, Volcano does not pack it for shipment until Thursday. If you choose fedex 2 day shipping and they ship thursday the "2 day" Fed Ex package is not due to arrive until Monday (They ship thurs, so that day does not count, Friday is day one, Sat and Sun dont count, Monday is day two which is when the package arrives, thats 5 day shipping in my mind!!!).
Well if I just order with the cheapest US postal option and they ship it Thurs. guess when it gets to my house? Thats right! Monday!!
The only problem is the USPS stuff shows up a bit squashed sometimes.
I still use Fed Ex 2 day on occasion but only if I order Mon, tues or Wednesday am.

You know I have heard a few people say that about smushed packages. I never got one this way. The boxes I get are always in percet shape. Not just on here though but even our customers that we send parts to. I wonder if it comes down to the driver and not usps themselves.

Personally, I prefer USPS over FedEx too, for the same reasons passenger posted above. Another thing I don't like about FedEx is their 'drop'n'go' policy - I've had packages stolen from my doorstep because of this questionable-at-best practice, while with USPS, they're nice and safe in my mailbox until I unlock it.

With USPS you stand a good shot of getting it delivered on Saturday - although my last two shipments didn't make it - with Fedex I've almost always been delayed until Monday
No "smushing" problems with USPS either and I've been at 4 different addresses (so different mailmen and PO's) since I've been ordering from Volcano.

OMG, the package that had my inferno in it, was almost unrecognizable. The only reason I knew what it was, is Volcano is the only ones that ship envelope packages to me. However, just completely torn up. It had everything in it though =D And juice wasn't leaking..

I've only had one smashed package from USPS. It looked like the driver was using it for a seat pad. The package contained about 30 vials of flavorings. I was expecting the worst, but it was well packed and no damage inside.
I've found that the ECig related stores all (or at least the ones I use) tend to "overpack" the items (a huge box for a small item, filled with styrofoam peanuts). It's well protected against the USPS workers.
I get the packages at about the same time, therefore I tend to go with whichever is cheaper at the time.
As said above, USPS has the benefit of leaving the package in a locked box rather than sitting at the front door.

Ya I agree I think that most companies over pack when they ship usps. From what I hear from our customers and the general news on here is that the packages most of the time come beat up. Thats ok though, I am willing to spend less on shipping and have the box come smushed just as long as my stuff is ok inside.
